What Customers Say About Rousseau 2850 Shop Style Miter Saw Stand Kit:

There are a lot of comments about the difficulty of assembly. You definitely need to cut the MDF as directed. My suggestion is to work slowly, following the steps as directed. Keeping the assembly square is no great challenge if you are accustomed to woodworking. A bench saw is the best alternative, although a circular saw with a proper fence will do the trick. If you find this assembly very challenging for your skill level you might want to try some other hobby or craft such as stamp collecting where the worst that can happen is that you might get a paper cut rather than lose a finger.

One parts bag lost in shipping. The second shelf holds two homemade drawers nicely. It's good to deal with a company that you can actually talk to and resolve any issues you may have.

Even though the problem was caused by the shipper, FedEx in this case, he had the missing parts shipped to me immediately. You have to read and follow the instructions closely to get it squared up. I emailed & then talked with Andy From Rousseau.

Thanks Andy. The 2850 miter saw stand went together without a hitch. He saved me a ton of trouble and time. Filing a claim and getting the lost parts from the shipper (any shipper) would have neen next to impossible and way more of a hassle than I'm willing to go through.Rousseau stands behind their products and they go to great lengths to keep their customers happy and coming back.

I found that assembling and squaring up the front and back sections as units, then tying them together with the side bars, made the job much easier. Half the fun of getting something like this is putting it together and personalizing it with your own touches such as drawers, fence, etc.RSK

It took me about 5 hours to assemble, but one word sums up the experience. Well, just like most of the other reviews, the box came opened at both ends. SQUARE. Luckily nothing was missing. I knew what to expect having to get the MDF, so that was no big deal. I found it very difficult to keep the unit square during all areas of assembly. I think it turned out ok, it's far from perfect, but will work for an amateur like myself.

Plus had to go get it etc.Manuf recommonds 3/4 MDF. Now that I did it once, yea probably could do a little faster. I paid $30 for MDF. This is a partial kit. Although the instructions hint, clamp the shelf and bracket in place level, drill at the end of the slot to allow further movement as to increase shelf height. tip of the hat.

You do need to hold the dimensions fairly tight(.060).To the reviewer who did it in 3 hours.

Another user got pre-covered material, great idea.Took me about 8 hours to cut the shelves and assemble.

only expert. The design of this could have been a bit better(reference the DeWalt planer stand).

User must supply the shelving material.

3 hours.

Best method to cut is a circular saw with a straight edge(no free hand or little portable table saw).

Else need a big table saw.

As other users indicate, need your tape measure out all the time to keep it square.Setting the folding shelf angle brackets, not sure how that could be done with one person, I had my Dad's help (over 50 years of fabrication experience) and it was a pain to ensure setting the brackets for the shelves to be level.

you'll see.If your on a tight budget, or just like to build things, this is the way to go, otherwise not so sure.I too was missing a small nut, had to go to ACE to get one.

I didn't want to be, but I was correct. For example, the end dimensions of one piece were specified, but the length is nowhere to be found in the directions. The box arrived with one end heavily taped. A previous review concerning this company's (Rouseeau) assembly directions said that the directions were vague. By trial and error, I'll probably get this miter saw table put together, but it'll be a hard tussle. Luckily, Home Depot could match and sell me what I needed -- after a 15 mile trip one way into town. Some of the numbers are totally missing.

For example, a certain cut for one of the 24" X 19", 3/4 inch thick, shelves (not supplied) was to be made to the sixteenth of an inch. Before I even opened it, I suspected that some of the hardware would be missing. Also, some of the directions are beyond the capability of most non-professionals. So, I had to pay extra for some of the hardware. I didn't how vague a company can be. I have a pretty good table saw and I'm pretty handy -- but not that handy. Fool me once.
